This course enables teachers to extend and update their knowledge in the TESOL area. The Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL) has international standing and is seen as a prestigious qualification for educators who wish to become leaders in TESOL. The course has been designed to provide a comprehensive and contemporary examination of the most salient matters concerning English language learning and teaching. Course provision offers flexibility as a primary tenet, allowing participants to move between delivery modes to meet specific requirements. The MEd TESOL course is provided fully online, or on-campus in Launceston. Further flexibility is achieved through the design of assignments to meet the needs and requirements of individuals. Professional and academic scholarship is a high priority, and participants are encouraged to engage in a scholarly approach within a community of learners. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge - Graduates will know and understand: The theoretical foundations and practice of education (including various specialisations), and how these can facilitate enhanced pedagogical approaches, curriculum, policy, and student engagement from a global perspective; The relationship between reflective practice and professional standards in local and/or global education contexts, and how each can define, validate and enhance learning and teaching; The key research principles and methods applicable to extending knowledge in their specialised area of interest. 2.
