This programme combines in-depth teaching of disease mechanisms and molecular technologies with an emphasis on developing your critical and practical skills. It will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills to pursue a research career, either in a clinical or scientific setting, and contribute to the growing need for scientists and clinicians to translate molecular advances into the clinical situation. We place a strong emphasis on development of your practical skills and this is reflected in the research skills module, and the three month laboratory-based project. This programme will: Further your pathology skills, so it is an ideal career progression; Give you a core understanding of human pathology and molecular biology and an in-depth knowledge of the principles and applications of molecular technologies as applied to human disease; Update you on the most recent advances including tumour biology and cell signalling; Have an emphasis on cancer therapy and molecular pathology. You will play an active part in your acquisition of skills and knowledge. Teaching is by a mixture of formal lectures and small group seminars. The seminars are designed to generate informed discussion around set topics, and may involve student presentations, group exercise and role-play as well as open discussion. You are assigned an Academic Adviser who will guide you in both academic and pastoral matters throughout your time at Queen Mary.
