This course is accredited and recognised by the following bodies: Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT); Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS); and Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This course combines a comprehensive understanding of the theories, concepts and issues of supply chain management (SCM) with a solid grounding in core management techniques. You should develop the skills and expertise to think critically, analyse problems and make informed recommendations, then implement and oversee SCM strategies effectively across a broad range of functions, involving multiple organisations and locations. Achievement of learning outcomes in the majority of taught modules is assessed by a combination of group work, in-class tests, written-reports and presentations. The learning outcomes of modules, assignments and projects will be clearly stated in advance and your work will be marked according to how well you achieve these learning outcomes. You need to achieve 40% or above to pass, anything above 70% is classified as outstanding. On successful completion, you should be able to: appraise the linkages between business strategy and purchasing strategy; evaluate appropriate philosophies, tools, techniques and systems associated with supplier quality; recommend and justify the selection of a monitoring and control system for selected aspects of the supply chain of various types of organization; evaluate the opportunities for delivering sustainability and environmental management systems; and critically appraise the potential causes of disputes, liabilities, and breaches of contract and the basics of contract law.
