This exciting master’s focuses on an evidence-based approach to understanding the science of strength training and the application of strength and conditioning in enhancing human performance: you will have the opportunity to learn how to conduct the best possible interventions, using the best possible evidence. Building on your undergraduate studies in sport and exercise, this Master’s Strength and Conditioning aims to develop your expertise and practical ability to prescribe, monitor and evaluate strength and conditioning programmes to optimise exercise performance and recovery. Achievement of learning outcomes in the modules is assessed by a combination of coursework assignments, oral presentations, video presentations, a practical portfolio and a dissertation. On successful completion of this course, you will be ideally placed to become a professionally accredited strength and conditioning coach working for the Home Country Sports Institutes, professional sports teams and National Governing Bodies. You will also have the opportunity to develop a number of transferrable skills that should enable you to excel in a variety of health and fitness related careers, as a technical coaches, fitness or performance managers for sports teams, for example, or within health promotion or the broader health and fitness industry. The course's strong focus on research skills provides an ideal platform for further study at PhD level or undertaking research.
