专业简介
This course aims to educate anyone offering horticultural type activities with the knowledge, skills and evidence base required to support the development of nature-based programmes/schemes that can help individuals and communities who may be vulnerable, isolated or living with disabilities. This course is designed to facilitate and enable the development of your professional skills in the use of STH and to increase your levels of critical knowledge and expertise. The course content centres on the critical and evaluative appreciation of social and therapeutic horticulture practice, leadership and management skills. The course embeds the development and design of research that will contribute to the developing evidence base for STH.
The assessment strategy has been designed to promote learning, skills development and capabilities enhancement to complement, as well as assess, knowledge and skills. The diet of assessment comprises formative and summative assessment. A range of assessments have been implemented to complement the discipline, to develop a range of personal skills and enrich the learning experience. There will be at least one assessment task for each module. This will take the form of a critical reflection on practice, a written report, an annual report, an action plan for future service development, an investigative report, and presentation by individual students. On successful completion, you should be able to: develop as innovative, enterprising, evidence based practitioners of social and therapeutic horticulture who are prepared for and actively engage in specialist practice in dynamic and diverse contexts; critically appraise and reflect on practice within the changing context of health and social care, with deep consideration of service users’ needs and critical analysis of the unique contribution that social and therapeutic horticulture can make to enhance health and wellbeing within service delivery; and critically evaluate the context of social and therapeutic horticulture within service delivery and the wider arenas of health, social care and nature-based care and so operate efficiently and autonomously as an advanced therapist/researcher/manager in field.
