This course is designed to provide flexible continuing professional development to a widening group of UK and internationally-based nurses, this course aims to develop nurses’ contribution to the quality of care both nationally and internationally. Your master’s degree culminates with an opportunity to propose, design, conduct and report on a research project of relevance and potential benefit to your field of nursing. This enables you to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the philosophy and principles of research, as well as your competence and ability to subsequently carry out research independently and to commission, manage and evaluate the research activities in the field. Course assessment includes written coursework such as a case study and reflective critique, poster presentations, portfolio, project development and health assessment. On completion, you should be able to: critically analyse, evaluate and interpret knowledge of health and nursing care and evidence to support professional practice; critically appraise approaches, designs and methods used to study health and social services; evaluate the application of principles of public health and health development; and continue to advance your knowledge and understanding and develop new skills of critical evaluation to a high level.
