The Management of IT MSc aims to instill in you the skills and experience in management, leadership, consulting etc. to succeed in business. This course aims to combine traditional and contemporary theory with the practical skills needed for the management of information systems, bridging the gap between technology and management. We will cover the different types of data available within an organisation and how to identify and capture descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive information. A variety of assessment methods includes: written examinations, in-class tests, practical assessments, individual or group presentations (e.g. of a software product), portfolio, log books and your dissertation. On completion of this course you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: The characteristics of information system management and their relevance to organisational frameworks; a range of systematic approaches used in the design, development and management of information systems as well as an evaluation of the key ethical, political, legal and social issues that need to be considered when carrying out research in this area; different tools and techniques available for effective specification, design, management of complex Information Systems; current and emerging practices and the principles of consultancy and the theories and practices found in leadership.
