专业简介
Contemporary theatre is a broad term that includes the making of performance and the design and practice of theatre production. It also includes touring productions to unusual site-specific works that defy definition.
Explore key areas of theatre making including the fundamentals of body and voice, acting, directing, lighting and sound design, integrated with cultural, historical and theoretical ideas about performance physicality and space.
Occupy an inspiring and generous teaching and performance space at The Annexe; a purpose-built, working theatre our students make their own and share with performing artists of state-wide, national and international significance.
Participate in acclaimed festivals like Dark Mofo, Ten Days on the Island, and the Junction Arts Festival, and pursue independent opportunities through an eclectic range of community and creative-based industries.
The Bachelor of Contemporary Arts degree is filled with dedicated, passionate, and motivated students working with us to develop their creative potential across theatre making disciplines. The course encourages collaboration, experimentation, community engagement, and the freedom to explore individual achievement in a supportive and creative environment.
Home to both Australia’s longest-running play and oldest operating theatre, Tasmania’s performing arts scene is flourishing. Located between the Academy of the Arts, School of Architecture & Design and QVMAG, your theatre home, The Annexe, takes centre stage in Launceston’s cultural precinct.
While a life in the performing arts is often more a calling than a career, graduate with confidence, critical awareness and creative intelligence for a life of outstanding theatre making and artistic leadership within your community.
