You’ll learn from a team of experienced tutors who have outstanding fashion experience, many of whom remain active in the industry and in research.You will be encouraged to explore all that London has to offer – everything from its fabulous street markets to high-street retailers and exclusive luxury brands. However, we will also bring the industry to you: you will hear from guest lecturers like fashion stylists, photographers and fabric researchers, and you will be taken to visit designer ateliers, trend forecasting agencies, trade shows and museums. You can network with figures from industry, and could even work on a live project for a client. You also have the opportunity to enjoy field trips in the UK and Europe, organised by your tutors.**Year One**Your first year will plunge you into a wide range of subjects designed to help you expand your understanding of, and exposure to, the professional world of fashion. Exploring the history of fashion provides a solid foundation for your studies as well as a lens through which to view the contemporary fashion business. You’ll also look at the international and cultural contexts of fashion, and start to develop your business and management skills.**Year Two**This year, you’ll start to look at the operational side of the industry. How does a garment or accessory make the leap from a creative concept to the consumer’s wardrobe? How does distribution work, and why are ethics and sustainability important along the way? You’ll explore why consumers interact with fashion and why they favour certain styles and brands, and then learn how to engage with different audiences using a range of marketing tactics.**Optional Placement Year**After you’ve successfully completed your second year, you could add an extra year to your degree, either for work experience or study overseas. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore new situations, contexts and challenges, and to put what you’ve learned to date into practice. You’ll develop your independence, confidence and resilience, and have more achievements – both personal and professional – with which to impress future employers.
