This course can lead to many careers, from working as a military pilot, to an engineer in the aerospace industry. Throughout this course, we aim to explore the intricacies of aircraft systems design, the complexities of aerospace programme management, the various types of system failure and how they can be prevented through improved aircraft design. Tis course aims to develop a wide-ranging, practical understanding of mechanical, electrical and aerospace systems engineering and how this knowledge is applied in the aerospace industry. The course is taught with a focus on developing your problem-solving skills, particularly in the areas of design support, product testing and in-service support. You can gain detailed experience and understanding of how aircraft systems work, while gaining valuable skills in applying the same processes and procedures used in the aerospace industry. The benefits of this course are international opportunities, for example some of our students have worked overseas at Airbus in France and Berntrandt in Germany; staff with industrial and research experience in a variety of disciplines such as aerodynamics, flight dynamics and avionics, who bring this into their teaching; Accreditation from the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), meeting in part the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration, and the requirements for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) registration in full; previous students have obtained jobs in the military as pilots and engineers, as systems design engineers (Marshalls of Cambridge and Rolls Royce in Derby), and engineers in various aspects of the aerospace industry with companies such as Meggitt, Goodrich, Moog, and HS Marstons.
