At UON we train engineers capable of solving the greatest global challenges. As a chemical engineer you may be part of a team developing high-efficiency insulation products that improve heating and cooling. You could work on biofuel production in remote communities, assisting with both waste disposal and energy production. Or, you might work in the food industry, refining products for people with special dietary needs.
What is chemical engineering? Chemical engineers use their knowledge of the synthesis and processing of chemicals to convert raw material into useful products. They help develop everyday products like toothpaste, beer, puff pastry, chocolate, lipstick, paracetamol and petrol. Chemical engineers work in fields such as energy production, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Why combine engineering with chemistry? Complete these two bachelor degrees in just five years – deepen your technical skills with advanced chemistry courses. Chemistry is fundamental to chemical engineering and a deeper knowledge of this science can open up opportunities in toxicology, pharmacy, biochemistry, bio-engineering, forensics and research.

Other English Language Requirements accepted: Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 57 with no score subtest score less than 50; Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) score of 52 - 57; TOEFL paper based test 525 min of 4 in TWE. Additional requirements: Applicants with ATAR of 90 or above are also eligible

Admission to our undergraduate degree programs usually requires successful completion of a senior secondary school qualification similar to the Higher School Certificate (HSC). They must also satisfy any one of the following English proficiency requirements whose first language is not English: TOEFL score of 525 with a TWE (Test of Written English) minimum of 4.0 in the paper-based test; TOEFL internet based score of 80 and no subtest less than 20; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 no subtest less than 6.0; PTE score of 57 with no subtest score less than 50; CAE score of 52 - 57. Students from different countries should have qualifications equivalent to Australia.
