Place marketing is one of the most novel and fastest growing fields of marketing practice. Our MSc Marketing for Places and Tourism is the first of its kind in Europe. It offers insights into place marketing and management with a focus on tourism management, destination marketing and planning.
This will course will answer questions such as:
Why do cities, regions, nations and other places succeed when others fail?
Who and what are the people and processes that support an attractive, famous and profitable place?
How should places and regions be promoted in order to increase economic development and brand value?
You will also have the opportunity to undertake a group project in the form of a field trip to the host city of a major place marketing event.

Students who have completed a four-year Bachelor's degree in China, may be considered for entry to a Master's degree at Leicester. Students must have graduated from a 'top 200' university in China, they may be asked for 70% overall if they are applying for an Engineering or Science degree, or 75% for an Arts, Humanities, Law or Social Science degree. They may need to have scores of at least 80% in modules that are particularly relevant to your chosen Master’s degree. The School of Museum Studies requires at least 80% overall. If students graduated from a Chinese university ranked below the top 200 they may require higher scores (80-85%). If students have completed a three-year college diploma from a Chinese university, they will need to take an accepted one-year Pre-Masters course or upgrade their diploma to a Bachelor’s degree before applying for a Master’s degree.
