In this course you make a valuable contribution to what we know, and how we think about, the world. Throughout your PhD you will have opportunities to communicate your work and network with other researchers. Our research centres host monthly seminars, workshops and conferences, while the Department's postgraduate community also has its own annual workshop where students present on their research. All postgraduate research students automatically become members of the University-wide Graduate School. The Graduate School provides training, professional development, study space, advice and administrative support in a dedicated building for the postgraduate research community at Reading. On completion of this course our PhD students often go on to work in academia as postdoctoral researchers, but also enter professions including teaching and publishing amongst others.
