​​ ​This degree enables you to gain advanced training in the palaeoenvironment. Become part of a world-leading Department of Archaeology with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research, as you develop the skills for a career in commercial and heritage organisations or future doctoral research. You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including fully equipped and dedicated laboratories for human skeletal remains and animal bone analysis, stable isotope analysis, micromorphology, palynology, geoarchaeology, digital x-ray and microscopic suite (CAF) and an MSc study room. Our analytical suite is extensive and allows you access to a range of techniques for your research projects. Our assessments are varied, providing a mix of vocational and research skills: essays, exams, seminar presentations, environmental reports, field survey reports, environmental assessments, in-class tests, conference presentations, and article critiques. On completion of this course our recent graduates have gone on to to further study through funded PhD projects, and found careers in archaeological units, heritage organisations, environmental consultancies, local authorities, and research laboratories and organisations. We also have graduates who are now working as advisers for various agencies including, most recently, Wessex Archaeology.
