The Master of Teaching (Secondary) course is fully accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and prepares graduates for employment as a secondary teacher in Australia and overseas. Alongside core studies, you will complete two secondary curriculum studies from English, TESOL, Languages other than English, Drama, Dance, Media, Visual Arts, Music, Humanities, Commerce and Business, Geography, History, Mathematics, Health, Physics, Biology, Psychology, Chemistry, Science and Environmental Science.
In addition to your curriculum studies, the final stage of the Masters of Teaching (Secondary) course offers you the opportunity to choose one of the following specialisation pathways: Internship, Leadership, Inclusive Education, Languages Teaching, Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages, Internationalisation, or Research.

To qualify for the award of Master of Teaching (Secondary), students must complete 16 credit points.

Applicants can also have equivalent qualifications gained by examination or relevant professional or industrial expedience. Other English Language Requirements accepted: TOEFL (PBT) score of 550; CPE score of 45 no less than 'weak' in each skill; CAE score of 52 no less than 'borderline' in each skill; PTE score of 52-57 no less than 50 in each skill; OET Overall B, with A or B in listening, speaking, writing and reading.

a Bachelor degree in a different discipline. Secondary Teaching applicants must meet the requirement for prior studies from disciplines that enable them to qualify for either two single teaching methods or one double method.
Completed IELTS academic module test of English language proficiency with a minimum overall 7.0, no band less than 7.0, and minimum of 7.5 in speaking and listening. Results must be obtained no more than 2 years prior to the date of enrolment or equivalent; Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (Internet-based Test - IBT): 94 Writing 27; TOEFL (Paper-based Test - PBT): 600 Writing 5; Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) (formerly known as Certificate of Proficiency in English): 185, no band less than 185; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): 185, no band less than 185; Pearson’s Test of English (Academic) (PTE): 65 No less than 65 in each skill; Occupational English Test (OET) (for Health related award course entry only): Overall B (Equivalent to an IELTS 7-7.5 range); SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) English 1119 (accepted at least 5 years prior to enrolment at Deakin): B.
